We're a web hosting company, not a traditional web design or development agency. We use modern website-building tools to help existing BWF customers modernise straightforward websites. This is a practical refresh service using your existing content and branding as a starting point, rather than a bespoke design project. For complex functionality, custom branding or a fully bespoke website, we can refer you to a specialist partner.
How editing works: Your refreshed website will be a simpler static site and will not include a customer editing dashboard or a new WordPress installation. Updates are requested through our team, with 30 minutes included each month and bankable to 90 minutes per quarter.

Can you refresh my existing WordPress website?
Yes. An existing WordPress website can be suitable when the features you need are mainly informational. We rebuild its content as a modern brochure-style static website, rather than upgrading an ageing WordPress installation in place.
Older themes, plugins and other components may no longer work with current versions of WordPress or PHP, making maintenance harder or more costly. A rebuild modernises the design while removing much of that legacy software.
Can I update the website myself?
This package does not include a customer CMS or website editor. Send your changes to the BWF team and we will make them for you.
You have 30 minutes of website updates each month. Unused time can be banked within the quarter, giving you up to 90 minutes of updates per quarter for a larger update later in that quarter at no extra charge. For clients paying annually you can use your full annual allowance of 360 minutes of updates at any time for larger updates.
What is included in the price?
The package includes:

- 30 minutes of BWF-managed website updates each month, bankable to 90 minutes per quarter
The cost is £30 + VAT per month or £300 + VAT per year. Paying annually effectively gives you two months free compared with 12 monthly payments. There is no upfront design or setup fee.
These brochure-style static websites generally do not need a database or a server to generate each page for every visitor, helping keep them lightweight.
What technology do you use to build the websites?
We primarily use Astro, and may use straightforward HTML where appropriate. Astro is well suited to content-focused company websites, landing pages and brochure sites.
Astro normally builds pages into static HTML ahead of time instead of generating them on every visit. It avoids sending unnecessary JavaScript by default, while still allowing interactive elements when needed.
The result is designed to be fast, lightweight and responsive without the overhead of a traditional CMS and database.
Is a static website completely secure?
No website or hosting platform is completely immune to security issues. Replacing an ageing CMS-based site can remove WordPress, its database, themes and plugins as components needed to display the replacement site, reducing the number of possible attack targets.
Websites supplied through this service run on our hardened hosting infrastructure, with the Monarx Security Suite providing an additional layer of server-level monitoring and protection.
Can you include an online shop, forum or booking system?
This package is for straightforward brochure and informational websites. More complex features normally need a different solution, including:
- Online shops and checkout systems
- Customer accounts or portals
- Forums and complex booking systems
- Bespoke database-driven applications
BWF is a hosting company, not a bespoke web development agency. We can discuss more specialist requirements and, where appropriate, refer you to a suitable agency. This service is primarily for longer-standing BWF customers whose existing websites are overdue a modern refresh.
What happens to my domain, email and existing hosting?
Website hosting is included in the new package. When your refreshed website goes live, it replaces your existing BWF website-hosting service. If you have prepaid for that service, the unused period will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and applied to your BWF account as a monetary credit.
The package includes five Business Grade Email accounts. If you use our legacy cPanel-based email service, it can continue alongside the new website at no additional cost. Your existing domain name can continue to be used as normal.
What if I need more than my included updates?
Your 30-minute monthly allowance can be banked, giving you up to 90 minutes of website changes per quarter. We expect this to be enough for most straightforward brochure sites.
Extra updates beyond the included allowance cost £30 + VAT per hour. We will discuss any additional work with you before it proceeds.
